Yay! Found my camera just before bedtime, in a perfectly logical place. Not in time for new photos, though.
So here’s another book with a clay cover, inspired by the stones and cairns at Newgrange near Dublin, Ireland.

Alas, my only working camera has not yet appeared. It occurs to me that I did not check under the sofa or between the cushions, where other lost items have turned up in the months since the Boys moved in. There is hope. Meanwhile, I’m still using old photos.

I bought an assortment of yarns from a tapestry weaver’s stash at the Torpedo Factory during our trip in November. Will I ever have enough storage room for yarn if I don’t use up MY stash before buying other people’s stashes?
Oops! I didn’t take any photos today, and I left my only working camera in the office. I’ll make do with previously taken photos.
Miss Lucy is very sick again. She spent the day at the vet having diagnostic tests and xrays and fluids and shots. This photo is from 2006. We’ll know more tomorrow about her condition, but right now we know she has a couple of infections and a lung and possible kidney problem.
Another book photo – this is a wee art book about the La Pointe Indian Cemetery that I visited this summer.
Bound this book today. Clay covers, handmade paper from cotton and palmetto leaves, pressed and steamed leaves and metal scraps, handmade clay buttons. I rolled a slab of oak bark on a clay slab, added a few woodpecker holes, and stained it with oxides. More photos on my Flickr site.
Guess what this is? It is missing some dowel rods and I keep meaning to replace them.
I should be binding a book or stitching on my scroll right now, or at least laying down in the dark with an ice pack on my face since I woke up with a vicious headache and a sinus infection. But I’m doing better, about to wash out my head pipes with a neti pot, the coffee is hot, and I’m missing blogging.
It’s been 20 days since I wrote the last coffee pot post. I like my new visual journal project, although I have to play catch-up now and then, and will continue it. I’ve been concentrating on my book projects when possible, and my last class is tomorrow night. I will finally have that BA in Studio Art that I’ve pursued off and on since 1984! I put one piece in the senior show: this tapestry. I’m pretty sure that I am the last student to graduate that did most of her studio work in the long-defunct fibers concentration.
I’m already planning for after this class – much more dyeing and stitching on fabric and paper. I’m joining Jill Berry’s project in the short term (I LOVE MAPS) and studying online with Jude Hill again. I’ve signed up for a “boro” class with shibori master Yoshiko Wada this summer
The Washington D.C. trip was great but I’ll have to blog it later, along with a big post on the work I’m doing for this ceramics class.
Speaking of which, I really need to get to work on finishing up some books for this class, so I’m checking out for today, other than the visual journal later.
