Weaving update

Finally cut two tapestries off their looms.

First up, the “O” postcard tapestry for the Tapestry Weavers South collaborative project for the “Follow The Thread” exhibition, scheduled in January 2023 at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, NC.

Secondly, I finally, reluctantly, cut a dog off the loom so that I could set “Mr. Blue Sky” free. I feel better now that I’ve done it.

Here’s the dog. I’m going to recycle the yarn if I can stand unweaving it for very long. I think this would have been a good weaving, but it was clear that I wasn’t going to finish it.

Now, I have to trim the backs, hem them, and design the “H” tapestry.

    You don’t know me. I come here from another site. I would strongly suggest you wait until 65 to retire because of the money. And If still working- even wait longer. I retired at 65 because my SS was the minimum. My husband (who earned much more) worked a few years more and got a substantial amount over what he would have gotten at 65. Together we have an excellent monthly amount of money and the freedom to do as we please. Medicare takes care of all our doctor and pharmacy bills with added Martin’s Point benefits (an add on that is FREE).

    Also, I love your weaving and the books and everything you try. I loved that you had figs on your tree.

      Thank you so much for commenting! I really appreciate it. And I appreciate your advice about retiring and trust me, I have obsessed over it. I do have a pension and a retirement account and health insurance will be very affordable for me until Medicare time. And I will put off taking SS as long as I can, but my mental health can’t take over five years more of this. My full retirement age is 67. I will likely get a part time job or temp jobs if we need extra money. There is also the matter of my husband’s health, which I won’t go into, but suffice it to say I have other reasons. (And it is entirely possible that my job might be cut anyway – big budget cut coming at work.) I am not familiar with Martin’s Point but will look it up for Sandy. Anyway, thank you for caring enough to write this.

        Martin’s Point is a Maine secondary Medicare Plan. It won’t be available to you where you live. It’s like all the plans on tv right now trying to get people signed up- I realize that your job and your husband’s health will impact your decisions. I just wanted you to know that the longer you wait the more money you will get each month.
